New List of Perth’s Best Lunch Spots Published; Every Single Person in Perth Disagrees With It
A fresh guide to midday dining sparks a city-wide row. One man says the best lunch in Perth is 'my mum's, Sundays, 1pm sharp'.

A new list of the best places to have lunch in Perth has been published, and the city has responded in the traditional way: by saying the list is wrong.
“They’ve missed out the best one,” said a woman from Tulloch. When asked which one, she said: “I’m not telling you. If it gets on a list, I’ll never get a table.”
Others objected to the order. “Number one should be number three, number three should be number one, and number five is my cousin’s place, so it should be number one as well,” said a Craigie man.
Food writers say lists always cause trouble in a city where everybody has a favourite soup. “In Perth, lunch is personal,” said one. “You can criticise a man’s car, his football team or his haircut. But do not criticise his scone.”
Visitors are advised to try them all. Locals are advised to keep quiet about the place with the good toasties. Too late. Everyone knows now.

They missed the best one. No, I’m not telling you either.

My cousin’s place should be number one. I’m not biased. Well, a bit.
