The adventure centre high above the River Garry promises a rush. Perthshire drivers say they get one every Monday morning.

Visitors looking for thrills are flocking to Highland Fling at Killiecrankie, where a freefall, a giant swing and a zip line offer a big rush above the River Garry.

Locals say the experience is impressive, but not unique. “Freefall? I get that feeling every time a lorry pulls out in front of me at Ballinluig,” said a Pitlochry delivery driver. “Giant swing? Try the bends north of Dunkeld with a coffee on the dashboard.”

Tourists say the setting makes it special. “You’re hanging over this beautiful wooded gorge,” said a visitor from Edinburgh. “You can see autumn leaves, the river, the old railway bridge. And then you’re screaming. Very scenic screaming.”

Hoteliers in Pitlochry say the centre has been good for business. “Visitors come up for the swing, stay for the scenery, and leave with a jar of heather honey and slightly wobbly legs,” said one.

The centre says all ages enjoy it. A Pitlochry gran says she has watched her grandson do the freefall three times and “would rather do the A9 in the snow”.

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

  1. The coffee-on-the-dashboard bends are scarier than any zip line. I’ve the stains to prove it.

  2. My gran also said she’d rather do the A9 in the snow. Then she did the freefall. She loved it.
