Hue and Cry Play Perth Theatre Tonight as Every Woman Called Linda in Perthshire Braces for ‘Looking for Linda’ Jokes
The 80s hitmakers bring their soulful sound to Mill Street. Lindas across Perthshire say they've 'heard it, aye, thanks'.

Hue and Cry play Perth Theatre tonight, and every woman called Linda in Perthshire is getting ready for a weekend of jokes.
“I’ve heard it since 1989,” said a Linda from Scone. “Every office party. Every wedding. A man leans in, winks, and says ‘I’ve been looking for you’. It wasn’t funny then and it’s not funny now. I’m still going to the gig, mind.”
Fans say the band’s big hits still sound great. “‘Labour of Love’ takes me straight back,” said a Perth man. “I was 17, I had a mullet and I owned a jacket with sleeves rolled up. My wife has burned the photos.”
The theatre expects a lively crowd, many of whom will be arriving straight from taking children round the doors guising. “Some of the audience might still be dressed as witches,” said a fan. “That’s fine. It was the 80s. We all looked like that anyway.”
Perth Theatre has asked audience members not to shout “Linda!” during the quiet songs. Lindas have asked for the same thing, all year round.

It’s me. I’ve heard it. Thanks, aye. See you at the gig.

I still have the jacket with the rolled-up sleeves. It still fits. Mostly.
