Clear Skies Send Visitors Up Kinnoull Hill; Car Park Fills by 10am With People Who Said They’d ‘Just Have a Wee Look’
Perth's favourite viewpoint expects a busy Sunday. Those who arrive after 11 are advised to bring patience and a spare hour.

With bright sunshine and “excellent” visibility forecast, Kinnoull Hill is expected to be one of the busiest spots in Perthshire today, as visitors and locals head up to see the Tay and the Carse of Gowrie at their best.
“Everybody says they’re going for a wee look,” said a dog walker who goes up every morning. “Then they stand at the folly for 45 minutes taking photographs of the same river. It’s a lovely river. It doesn’t move much.”
Visitors from further afield say the views are among the best in Scotland. “I came from Glasgow,” said one. “You can see for miles. You can see Dundee. I didn’t come all this way to see Dundee, but it’s nice to know where it is.”
Locals advise anyone heading up to wear proper shoes, keep away from the cliff edges and bring a jacket, “because it’s always colder at the top, and somebody always says ‘it’s colder at the top’.”
The car park is small and fills quickly. Visitors are encouraged to walk up from the town, which is good for the legs and even better for the sense of superiority.

Car park full by ten. I walked up from my house. Felt very smug for about half an hour, then I had to walk down.

Took the dog up. Dog saw Dundee. Dog barked. I think he’s a Perth dog.
