Saints Star Says Team ‘Can’t Be Bullied’; Perth Fans Ask If That Also Covers the Price of a Pie

Defiant words inspire supporters to stand up to 'big lads, high balls and catering'.

PERTH — A St Johnstone midfielder’s declaration that Saints showed at Aberdeen they “can’t be bullied” has been taken to heart by supporters, many of whom say they will no longer be bullied “by anything.”

“I went to the snack bar after reading it and when they told me the price of a pie I looked them dead in the eye and said, ‘I will not be bullied,'” said one fan. “Then I paid it, obviously. But I said it.”

“My wife tried to make me go to IKEA on Sunday,” said another. “I said, ‘I’ve been watching Saints. I cannot be bullied.’ We went anyway. But I stood very tall in the car park.”

Sports psychologists say the mindset is healthy, though it may be tested at Ibrox, “where height, strength and 50,000 people all come at you at once.”
