NORTH INCH HEATER HIRE, a business that was going to open in 2027 renting patio heaters to visitors at the newly unheated covered events space, has died before ever trading, after its founders read the plans properly.

“We thought — unheated? Opportunity!” said a co-founder. “Then someone pointed out it’s unheated on purpose. It’s a covered space, not a living room. We’d already bought 300 heaters.”

The firm is survived by 300 patio heaters, stored in a garage in Scone that its owner says is “now the warmest building in Perthshire”.

A short memorial will take place outdoors, in a coat, briefly.

  1. They’d have made a fortune at the new Bell’s. Terrible timing.

  2. I’ll miss them. Every summer fete felt like Benidorm.
