THE PUMPKIN POP-UP, a seasonal Halloween stall in the Carse of Gowrie, has closed two days before Halloween, after its pitch was claimed by a fibreglass reindeer and a crate of fairy lights.
It had enjoyed a successful October, selling 400 pumpkins, 200 plastic skeletons and one large inflatable bat that a family in Errol now regrets.
“We had till the 31st,” said the former manager. “Then the reindeer turned up with a clipboard. Christmas doesn’t wait for anybody. Christmas doesn’t even wait for Bonfire Night.”
Survived by 80 unsold gourds, a box of fake cobwebs and a pumpkin carved to read TOO EARLY.
