85TH MINUTE TAXIS, a Perth cab firm whose entire business model involved collecting St Johnstone fans five minutes before the final whistle, has closed after 22 years, citing “too many late goals”.

Its founder called last night’s 93rd-minute equaliser “the final straw”. “Our customers were in the cab, on the Crieff Road, and they heard the roar. Three of them got out at the lights and ran back. One’s still running.”

The firm leaves a fleet of three Skodas, a radio permanently tuned to post-match phone-ins, and a slogan — Beat the Traffic, Miss the Drama — that it now accepts was “a poor pitch”.

Fans are asked to stay until the end in its memory. The traffic will still be there.

The real story: Match report: St Johnstone 2-2 Motherwell (St Johnstone FC)
