The UN biodiversity summit in Yerevan has ended with 14 decisions and around $1.8bn in funding, a result leaders called historic and nature called “a decent start, now do it”.

In Perthshire, the wildlife followed the talks closely. “Fourteen decisions is a lot of decisions,” said a beaver near the Tay. “We made one decision. Build a dam. We built it. That’s how you do it.”

Red squirrels in Dunkeld said they were “not getting their hopes up”, having heard summits before. A wallaby, newly famous, declined to comment because it is not sure it is supposed to be here.

Delegates said the agreements would protect habitats around the world. The Perthetic notes this is good news, and nobody was booed.
