Dry Spell Leaves Perth Umbrellas Temporarily Unemployed
With rain chances at 10 per cent, brollies across the city sit idle in hallways. Some have taken up hobbies.

A rare run of mostly dry weather has left thousands of Perth umbrellas temporarily out of work, according to figures compiled by the Perthetic weather desk from a quick look in our own hallway.
“I don’t know what to do with myself,” said a navy golf umbrella in Kinnoull, propped against a radiator. “I’ve been opened every day since August. Now I’m just here. Leaning.”
Some umbrellas have taken up hobbies, including being a walking stick, pointing at things on maps, and being left on the bus to see what that’s like.
Forecasters stress the situation is temporary, with patchy rain possible on Halloween evening, and umbrellas are asked to remain on call.
