Christmas display tipped to be among Perthshire's top attractions. Car park attendants begin festive breathing exercises.

Glendoick’s Christmas display could attract 100,000 visitors this season, delighting the garden centre, the Carse of Gowrie and the local café economy, and slightly alarming the A90.

“I was not consulted,” said the dual carriageway, through a spokesman who was a lay-by. “Nobody asked me if I wanted 100,000 visitors all turning at once. I’ve got my own problems. Have you seen Dundee?”

Coach firms have begun adding Glendoick to festive itineraries, along with Perth’s Christmas lights, Scone Palace and “a toilet stop, anywhere, please”.

Visitors are advised to wrap up warm, arrive early and accept that they will leave with a poinsettia they did not intend to buy. It’s tradition.
