Tour Firms Rush to Sell ‘The McGregor Loop’ Through the Highlands to Crieff; Cup of Tea at the End ‘Not Included, Ask Your Own Mum’
The actor's favourite ride has inspired a flurry of motorbike holiday ideas. Crieff is ready for leather jackets.

Ewan McGregor’s comment that his favourite ride ends at his parents’ house in Crieff has done for Strathearn what Trainspotting did for Leith Walk: made a lot of people want to go there in a leather jacket.
Imaginary Perthshire tour companies have already started selling “The McGregor Loop”, a ride through the Highlands that winds up in Crieff.
“It’s got everything,” said one pretend tour guide. “Mountains, lochs, a winding road, sheep looking at you, and then Crieff, where you can have a scone. The only thing we can’t provide is his actual mum and dad. We’ve had to put that in the small print.”
Crieff cafés say they are ready. One owner on the High Street said she had ordered extra teabags and “a sign that says ‘helmets on the hook please'”.
Local bikers have advised visitors that November is “not ideal”. “It’s lovely, but it’s cold, it’s slippy and it’s dark by half four,” said a biker from Comrie. “Do it in May. And go and see your own mum while you’re at it. She’ll appreciate it more than Crieff will.”
The Perthetic reminds all visitors that the Sma’ Glen is very beautiful, very narrow and full of sheep who have absolutely no interest in who you are, even if you were in Star Wars.

Our road’s been a motorbike road for years. Nobody sold tickets before. I want a cut.

My mum would happily make the tea. She’d also want to know your intentions.
