Saints Women Return From International Break, Confirm International Breaks Are ‘Bad for Everyone, Always’

PERTH — St Johnstone Women’s return from the international break with a defeat at Gartcairn has reignited football’s great debate: whether international breaks have ever helped anybody.
“Nobody likes them,” said one veteran watcher. “The players lose rhythm. The fans lose their routine. The pies sit in a freezer for two weeks. Nobody wins. Except possibly the pies.”
Saints pressed and created chances but could not recover from falling behind, in what supporters called “a classic post-break afternoon, where the legs are there but the calendar isn’t.”
The side are home on Sunday, when fans hope to see “a team that has fully remembered it’s football season.”
