St Johnstone and Motherwell drew 2-2 at McDiarmid Park last night after Josh Campbell headed in a Logan Chalmers cross deep into stoppage time — the 93rd minute, a time of day Saints fans now regard as their natural habitat.

Taylor Steven had put Saints ahead early, before Motherwell turned the game round with goals either side of half-time. Then, with the clock long gone and the flasks long empty, Campbell rose. “I aged a decade,” said a North Muirton season-ticket holder. “Then the ball went in and I got the decade back. With interest.”

Manager Simo Valakari praised the impact of his substitutes. Medical experts praised the impact of the substitutes on the blood pressure of the over-60s section, describing it as “concerning but life-affirming”.

Saints travel to Rugby Park on Saturday to face Kilmarnock, who are now bottom. Fans are advised to arrive early and leave very, very late.

  1. 93rd minute! I was already in the car park and heard the roar from the chip van. Best goal I never saw.

  2. This is why you never leave early. Tell that to my husband.

  3. Not a single fingernail left in the Ormond Stand. Worth it.
