Temporary traffic lights on the A827 at Aberfeldy, in place for embankment work due to continue until February 2027, have been there so long that the community has begun naming them.
The red light is Hamish. The green, which appears less often, is called The Rumour. The amber is Wee Jinty and is the most popular, having never once kept anyone waiting.
“They’re part of the place now,” said a local. “When they go in 2027 we’ll have a wee send-off. Cake. A plaque. Maybe a bench.”
The Perthetic thanks the crews working on the embankment and promises to visit Hamish soon.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
