Perth Rules E-Scooters May Only Be Used ‘Downhill, in Moderation’
New bylaw also bans going uphill 'with any sort of expression on your face'.

PERTH — In a bid to settle long-running debates about e-scooters, Perth has proposed rules allowing them to be ridden only downhill, at walking pace, and “with a bit of decorum.”
“Uphill, you’re showing off,” said a source close to the proposal. “Flat ground, it’s lazy. Downhill, fine, gravity does it anyway. We’re just regulating gravity.”
Opponents argue the city has very few hills that don’t end in a road. Supporters say that’s the point. Scooter users have threatened to protest, but only on the way down Kinnoull Hill, slowly, in a line.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
