I’ve Lived on Kinnoull Hill for 30 Years and I Have Never Once Seen the View
It's always foggy, writes a resident, and I've stopped believing in Perth.

Tourists come up here and say “wow”. I say: what? There is a view? Of what?
Every time I’ve gone up to look, the haar has come in. I’ve seen photographs. I’ve been told there’s a river and a city and the Carse and hills beyond. I believe in it the way you believe in Australia.
Last month a tourist took a photo of me with the “view” behind me. It came out grey. She said it was “atmospheric”. I said it was my life.
Douglas Abernethy is a columnist and is planning to move somewhere where you can see things.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
