COUPAR ANGUS — Retired dinner lady Jessie Mailer-Strachan, 74, has completed an epic poetry collection with one poem for every pothole on the road between Coupar Angus and Blairgowrie.

“Each one is different,” she explained. “Some are sonnets. The big one past the farm is a full ballad. There’s a wee one I wrote a haiku for: ‘Dark hole in the rain / my tyre sighs, the hubcap flees / Perth and Kinross Council’.”

She plans to read the full collection at the village hall. The event is expected to last four days. Letham’s Agnes Brodie-Fairlie has asked to attend “as a professional courtesy”.
