Auchterarder Man Has Been Trimming His Hedge Into the Shape of the A9 Dualling Programme Since 2011
Topiarist Alasdair Pirnie-Rae, 66, says hedge is 'about 60% finished, which puts it ahead of the real thing'.

AUCHTERARDER — For fifteen years, Alasdair Pirnie-Rae has been patiently sculpting the privet at the front of his house into a scale model of the full A9 dual carriageway from Perth to Inverness.
“The Perth end is done,” he said, clipping gently near Dunkeld. “Pitlochry is coming along. Inverness is a bit of a twig at the moment. But I’m confident I’ll finish before they do.”
He has installed small wooden cones along one section “for realism” and has built a tiny Broxden from box hedging, which he admits “nobody can get out of, including the snails.”
