High Pressure Settles Over Perthshire; Fog Expected to ‘Hang About Like a Teenager in a Bus Shelter’

Next week looks mostly settled with overnight frost and fog that may linger in places. The Tay valley prepares to disappear each morning.

The Met Office outlook for next week suggests high pressure will be in charge, bringing largely dry conditions but also overnight frost and fog, which may linger in places well into the day.

In Perth, lingering fog is known as “the Tay putting its duvet back on”. Residents of the Carse of Gowrie report that on some foggy mornings they can’t see the Friarton Bridge, which they describe as “restful”.

Drivers are reminded to use dipped headlights, leave extra space, and resist the urge to put their hazards on just because everyone else has.

Settled weather is good news for anyone with leaves to rake, a shed to paint or a resolution to go for more walks. It is bad news for anyone who was hoping to blame the weather for not doing those things.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
