Sunset at 4.36pm: Perth Office Workers Begin Annual Ritual of Never Seeing Daylight on a Weekday
Days are now shorter than a council meeting about car parking. Vitamin D tablets sold out in one Perth pharmacy, possibly.

The sun set in Perth today at 4.36pm, and will set a couple of minutes earlier each day from now until late December, a fact that office workers across the city have begun to take personally.
“I come in when it’s barely light, I leave when it’s dark,” said a man who works in an office on Atholl Street. “The only daylight I see is through the window during a Teams call. I’ve started waving at it.”
The Met Office says today’s long sunny spells are a good opportunity to get outside at lunchtime. Several employers have been asked to introduce a statutory “go and stand in the sun” break.
Perth’s seagulls, by contrast, seem untroubled by the shorter days, having switched to a nocturnal chip-stealing schedule some years ago.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
