Bell’s Dome Is Staying, and Perth Is Quietly Delighted
The North Inch landmark survives under the new plan. Joggers report a pleasant feeling, then keep jogging.

Beneath the jokes about the heating, there was genuinely good news for Perth this week: the famous roof of Bell’s Sports Centre is to be kept as part of the plan to bring the building back into use.
“It’s a landmark,” said a Perth woman who learned badminton under it in 1979. “My first smash. My first sprained ankle. My first time being picked last. All under that dome. I’m emotional.”
With asbestos and Raac removal on schedule for May 2027, the city can look forward to concerts, markets and events on the North Inch again — in a coat.
The Good News Desk says well done to everyone who kept pushing for it.
