PERTH — Perth pharmacies reported an unprecedented demand for sun cream on Thursday morning, with one shop selling its only bottle — a factor 50 that has sat on the shelf since 2019 — for what staff described as “an emotional amount of money”.
“People were queueing,” said an assistant. “One man asked if it came in a stronger version for Perth people. I said we’re all the same skin. He said ‘you’ve not seen my knees’.”
By 12.05pm, demand had collapsed. The bottle has been put back on the shelf “for the next one, probably 2031.”
