Mexico City Grand Prix Qualifying Clashes With Halloween Guising; Perth Dads Choose Wrongly
Saturday 9pm qualifying means one parent has to stand on the doorstep handing out sweets while listening to tyre strategy on a phone.

Formula One fans in Perth face an agonising choice this weekend after the Mexico City Grand Prix qualifying session was scheduled for 9pm on Saturday — slap in the middle of Halloween guising.
“Every year it’s something,” said a Burghmuir father of three. “Last year it was the clocks. This year it’s Mexico. I’ve told the kids I’ll take them out at quarter to nine and be back by nine. They’ve told me that’s not how guising works.”
Some households have reached a compromise in which one adult takes the children door-to-door while the other stays home to hand out sweets with the TV just about audible through the hall. “If a guiser tells me a joke during Q3,” said one Scone man, “they’re getting a Fruit Pastille and that’s it.”
The race itself starts at 8pm on Sunday, which is more civilised, unless you have school in the morning, in which case the Perthetic’s position is that the highlights are also very good.
Local karting enthusiasts said the altitude in Mexico City makes overtaking difficult, much like the Friarton Bridge at teatime.

Guilty. Did the guising with an earphone in. My daughter’s now a big Norris fan, which I’ll take.

Q3 is no excuse. Hand out the sweets, lads.
