Lintibert Road in Muthill to Close Next Week; Diversion via Willoughby Street, Pitkellony Street and Thornhill Street Is So Long It Takes in Most of Muthill
The closure runs from 9 to 13 November. Muthill residents say the diversion is basically a tour of the village, with views.

Lintibert Road in Muthill will be closed from Monday 9 November until Friday 13 November, Perth and Kinross Council says. The diversion is via the A822 Willoughby Street, Pitkellony Street, Thornhill Street and Queensferry Road.
For a village the size of Muthill, that is a substantial diversion.
“It’s four streets,” said a Muthill man. “That’s about a third of the village. You’ll go round the whole place and come out the other side having seen everything. It’s basically a guided tour. They should hand out leaflets.”
Villagers have been planning for the week ahead. A woman on Thornhill Street said she would be “out in the garden more than usual”, purely to see who was driving past. “I know every car in Muthill,” she said. “So if I see one I don’t know, I’ll know it’s on the diversion. Then I’ll know where they’re going. Then I’ll know why. It’s a lovely way to spend a week.”
A Muthill dog walker said his dog was “very excited about the new traffic”. “He sits at the window and barks at every car,” he said. “Next week, he’ll be barking at twice as many. He’ll need a lie down by Wednesday. So will I.”
The Perthetic notes that the closure is short and the diversion is not far. We also note that Muthill’s old church tower will be watching over the whole thing, as it has done for about 900 years, with the patience of a building that has seen a lot of diversions in its time.

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

The diversion takes in most of Muthill, which, to be fair, is not that much of Muthill. Twenty minutes, tops.

I’ll walk. The dog’ll love it. The dog loves a closure.

Muthill folk will cope. They coped with the church roof. They’ll cope with Thornhill Street.
