BLAIRGOWRIE — As resurfacing began on the A93, residents reported a distinctive new-road smell drifting over the town, briefly mistaken by one estate agent for “regeneration”.

“It’s just tar,” clarified a neighbour. “We’ve had regeneration before. It smelled of coffee and broken promises.”

The smell is expected to last approximately two weeks, or until the next weather system.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
