BLAIRGOWRIE — The A93 Perth Street and Perth Road in Blairgowrie will close from Thursday for around two weeks of resurfacing, and the town is taking it in its stride, mainly because it cannot take it in its car.
Buses will divert via Beeches Road and Emma Street, two quiet residential streets that have reacted to the news “like a cat being told it’s hosting Christmas”.
“We’ve had one bus a day for forty years and we liked it,” said an Emma Street resident. “Now it’s all of them. I’ve started waving. You have to.”
The works come in two phases, a structure locals have compared to “a raspberry season, but with tarmac.” Shops say they remain open, and are offering customers “a walk, which is good for you, and also unavoidable.”
The council regretted any inconvenience. Blairgowrie said it would accept the apology “once it’s been resurfaced as well.”
The real story: Real: A93 Perth Street/Perth Road, Blairgowrie, closed for resurfacing from 22 Oct 2026, buses diverted (PKC)

Emma Street is lovely. I’ve just never meant to go there on a bus.

Phase 2 is going to be interesting for the hospital run. Pack a flask.
