Glendoick Christmas Display Aims for 100,000 Visitors; Halloween Told to ‘Wrap It Up, Pal’
'Twas the Night Before Christmas theme confirmed. Pumpkins in the car park report feeling 'pushed out' with days still on the clock.

Glendoick Garden Centre’s Christmas display — themed this year around ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas — is aiming for 100,000 visitors, a figure that would make it more popular than most of the A90.
The ambition was greeted on 29 October by one Carse of Gowrie pumpkin, which described the timing as “a bit early, to be honest”. “I’ve got two days left,” it said, from a hay bale. “Two. And there’s a reindeer standing behind me doing stretches.”
Families have welcomed the display, with one Errol mum saying she would “absolutely go, and buy a plant I don’t need, and a scarf I don’t need, and a scone I do need”.
Retail analysts say Christmas creep in Perthshire has reached the point where the season is measured not by the calendar but by the moment the first garden centre robin is spotted in a hat. Halloween has formally lodged an objection, on parchment, by candlelight.

It’s not even Halloween! I bought two baubles in protest and also a wreath, in protest.

My wife dragged me there on Sunday. The robot reindeer and I made eye contact. We understood each other.

Christmas in October is fine. Christmas in July is where I draw the line. Mostly.
