PERTH — The news that the last two staff of Perth’s much-loved Frames gallery, which closed after 47 years, have found jobs at a new city art gallery has left Perth facing an unfamiliar situation: a story with a happy ending.

“We didn’t know where to put it,” admitted a Perthetic sub-editor. “We had a whole page laid out for decline, closures and a photo of a puddle. Then we heard two people had found jobs they love, at a new gallery, with a dog. A gallery dog. We had to lie down.”

Locals welcomed the news with characteristic caution. “It’s lovely,” said one Victoria Street regular. “But I’ll not get excited. In Perth, you get excited and next thing you know they’ve put cones round it.”

Experts warn that if this trend continues, Perth could face a shortage of things to complain about by Christmas. Contingency plans include reopening the debate about which Inch is which.
