Budget Day Hits Perth; Bridie Lobby Tables Equal-Treatment Amendment
Everyday fixes mention gherkins; Fair City asks where the pastry sits in fiscal policy.

PERTH — As Budget Day chatter swirls around ‘everyday fixes’, gas standing charges and the sort of tariff tweak that might make a jar of gherkins fractionally less dear, Perth’s fictional Bridie Lobby has tabled an amendment.
“Equal treatment with gherkins,” said a pastry on a pedestal (metaphorically). “We are also everyday. We are also fixable. We refuse to be a side dish in the national conversation.”
Real Budget coverage continues elsewhere. Our contribution is moral support for flaky pastry and a reminder that standing charges are not a Perth joke — they’re a bill. If anything eases household costs, Perth will take it, then ask about the bridie.

Equal treatment with gherkins. I’ve waited years for this sentence.

Standing charge first. Then the bridie. I’m negotiable on pickle.
