Bright Halloween Brings Perth Dog Walkers Their Best Morning in Weeks; Spaniels Reported ‘Beside Themselves’
Sunshine, crunchy leaves and no rain until nightfall. North Inch dogs have declared it the best day of the year, again.

Perth’s dog walkers enjoyed a beautiful bright morning on the North and South Inches today, with dry weather and a carpet of crunchy leaves, and the dogs could not contain themselves.
“He’s run through every leaf pile in Perth,” said a spaniel owner. “Every single one. Some of them twice. He came back looking like a hedge.”
Labradors were said to be “equally delighted”, mostly because of the number of dropped sweets they expect to find on the pavements tomorrow morning. Owners are reminded that chocolate is bad for dogs, and to keep an eye out.
The good weather lifted human spirits too. “Everyone was smiling,” said one dog walker. “Even the man who never says hello said hello. Well, he nodded. In Perth, that’s a hug.”
The forecast says the rain will arrive late tonight. The spaniels say they will deal with it tomorrow.

My spaniel came home looking like a compost heap. Best day of his life.

The man who never says hello nodded at me too. I think it’s the weather. Or he’s ill.
