ST ANDREWS — Hundreds of University of St Andrews students marked Raisin Monday by covering one another in shaving foam while dressed as sunflowers, Smurfs, mice and chemical elements, continuing a centuries-old tradition of thanking senior mentors.

“It’s mentorship,” said one foam-covered student. “With bubbles.”

Perth observers noted the tradition with envy. “We thank mentors with a nod at Broxden,” said a local. “If we can get into the right lane.”

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

  1. Mentorship with foam. We do Broxden lanes. Different energy.

  2. Can we do this at Dens? Asking for a friend covered in shaving foam.
