PERTH — Perth and Kinross Council could set up its own in-house public transport operation, with full council asked to approve up to £500,000 for a business case. The proposal follows the loss of the X56 Perth–Edinburgh route and cuts elsewhere.
Bus enthusiasts celebrated by standing at stops looking hopeful, which is what they do anyway. A report warns an in-house model “should not be assumed to be lower cost”, which locals described as “the most Scottish sentence ever written by a bus”.
