PERTH — After Thursday’s alarming run on sun cream, Friday saw the opposite: a surge in umbrella sales so brisk that one Old High Street trader sold out of folding models by 11am.
“People came in already dripping,” he said. “That’s how you know it’s a real Perth day. Yesterday they wanted hope. Today they want nylon.”
A limited edition “Storm Austen Commemorative” brolly — identical to every other brolly — sold six units before lunch.
The real story: Real: wet Friday after dry Thursday
