KINROSS — A rugby ball kicked into Loch Leven during a heated match in 1998 has been returned by a swan, which nudged it onto the bank on Monday while a youth team trained nearby.
“We’d always said it would come back,” said a former player. “We just thought it’d take less than 28 years. I’ve gone grey waiting. So has the ball.”
The swan has been invited to train with the club. Coaches say it shows good positional awareness, “an outstanding hiss in the lineout,” and a sidestep “like a Frenchman.”
