KINROSS — The final of an end-of-season indoor bowls competition near Kinross entered its seventh hour on Tuesday as both finalists continued to stare at the jack “with the intensity of a heron watching a fish.”
“Neither will commit,” said a spectator, unwrapping her third sandwich. “One of them lifted his bowl at four o’clock. He put it down again at twenty past. The crowd gasped.”
Club officials said they had no rule for a final that “simply continues indefinitely” and have proposed declaring both men winners, which both have rejected, “in principle, after some thought, maybe tomorrow.”
