An obituary with a happy ending, which this column is unsure how to format.

PERTH — Frames, the independent gallery and picture framer, has died aged 47, after a long and much-loved career of putting nice edges round things.
It framed the certificates, wedding photos, children’s drawings and dubious holiday watercolours of an entire city. You went in with a poster and came out with an opinion about mount board.
In a rare twist for this page, its remaining staff have found jobs at a new Perth gallery, alongside a gallery dog. This column has never before reported that the bereaved got jobs they love and a dog, and wishes to note it for the record.
Frames is survived by thousands of pictures on walls across Perth, every one hanging very slightly squint, as is traditional.
The real story: Frames, Perth, closed after 47 years; staff get jobs at new gallery (The Courier, 19 Oct 2026)

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.
No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
