FEARNAN — Plans for an outdoor activity centre at the long-abandoned Blarmore township on Loch Tay have been greeted with excitement, and some anxiety, by the site itself.

“I’ve been quiet a very long time,” said the township, through a heritage spokesperson. “A few sheep. Some ferns. The odd walker with a flask. Now I’m hearing cabins, a dining hall and water sports. I’m thrilled. I’m also terrified. I’ve never had WiFi.”

Public consultations are planned at Fearnan on 27 October and 2 December. “Teenagers in a canoe make a lot of noise,” said one Kenmore man. “But so does a sawmill, and they wouldn’t give us one of those either.”

The township says it simply hopes the young people will “wipe their feet.”

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
