Tuesday’s Rain to ‘Turn Heavier and More Persistent’, Confirming It Has Been Practising

Forecasters say the rain 'has really been putting the hours in' ahead of its big day.

PERTH — The Met Office has confirmed that today’s rain across Central, Tayside and Fife will start “largely cloudy”, then turn “heavier and more persistent through the day”, prompting experts to praise its “real commitment to self-improvement.”

“Most weather just turns up and does its thing,” said one forecaster. “This rain has a plan. It starts light, to lull you in. Then, just as you’ve decided you don’t need a jacket for the Co-op, it really leans into it. It’s not weather. It’s a narrative.”

Perth residents said they had seen the pattern before. “It does this every Tuesday,” said one North Inch dog-walker, wringing out a spaniel. “It’s like it goes to a night class.”

The rain is expected to linger into Wednesday before “brightening up later”, an expression locals regard with the deep suspicion normally reserved for estate agents.

Advice for residents remains unchanged: wear a coat, bring a second coat, and accept that your socks will be damp “until further notice.”
