A Craigie man has found both of his winter gloves, together, in the pocket of his winter coat, on the first day of November, in what his family is calling “a minor miracle”.

“Normally I find one in November and the other in about February,” he said. “By then I’ve bought another pair, and lost one of those. I’ve got a drawer full of left gloves. They’re all different. It’s like a museum.”

He said he put the gloves in the pocket in April and “didn’t touch them all summer, because I didn’t want to jinx it.”

His wife said she was proud of him. “He’s had a good week,” she said. “He found the remote on Tuesday too. If he finds the ice scraper, I’ll put him forward for an award.”

The man says he does not expect his luck to last. “I’ll lose one by Wednesday,” he said. “But for today, I’ve got a full set. I’m going to wear them inside the house. Just to enjoy it.”

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

  1. I’m his neighbour. He was outside at 7am, holding them up like the European Cup.

  2. I’ve had one left-hand glove since 2017. If anyone in Craigie has a matching right one, please get in touch.

  3. Don’t put them down. Not on a radiator, not on a bus seat. Wear them to bed if you have to.
