Perth Guisers’ Jokes Expected to Hit Record Quality Tonight After Schools Hold ‘Joke Rehearsals’ All Week

Classrooms have been practising for weeks. Householders told to expect punchlines that actually make sense.

Perth householders can expect better jokes than usual at their doors tonight, after children in several schools spent the week rehearsing their Halloween material.

“In previous years, the standard was low,” said one Perth teacher. “Kids would say ‘Why did the chicken cross the road?’ and then forget the answer. This year we’ve done practice runs. Timing, delivery, punchline. They’re ready.”

One P6 pupil shared her joke with the Perthetic. “What do you call a skeleton who won’t work? Lazy bones.” The Perthetic gave her two sweets, which we understand is the going rate.

Parents say the rehearsals have made a difference at home. “My son’s been telling jokes at breakfast, lunch and tea,” said a Scone mum. “They’re good. But I’ve heard ‘lazy bones’ 47 times.”

Householders are reminded to laugh, even if they have heard it before. It is Halloween. It is the law.
