Council Awards £200 Sports Transport Contract; Premier League Clubs Ask How It Was Done

Perth and Kinross Council's latest tender: a modest bus run taking Kettins pupils to sport in Meigle and Blairgowrie. Football agents across Europe are reported to be 'studying the numbers'.

Perth and Kinross Council has quietly awarded a sports conveyance contract worth £200 to carry pupils from Kettins Primary to sporting fixtures in Meigle and Blairgowrie, starting today, and the football world is in shock.

“Two hundred pounds,” said a man in Coupar Angus who follows the transfer market closely on his phone. “Some clubs spend that on a single bottle of the special water. The council’s got a whole bus for it. Somebody should be giving them an award.”

The contract, which appeared on the Scottish Government’s public tendering website, is one of the smallest the council has ever advertised, and possibly the most efficient. Pupils will travel along rural roads that are, for once, not believed to be closed.

Kettins pupils were said to be delighted. One P6 footballer said she was “just pleased to be on a bus that’s going somewhere sporty” and asked whether the contract included crisps. It does not.

The Perthetic understands that several Scottish Premiership clubs have since asked the council for the name of its procurement team “for no particular reason”.
