Scotland Curlers Make Strong Start at Euros; Perth Takes Credit, as Is Customary
Strong opening at the European Championships. Perth ice-rink regulars say they 'taught them the slidy bit'.

Scotland’s curlers have made a strong start at the European Championships, and Perth — home of curling-adjacent smugness since records began — is taking its share of the credit.
“Every Scottish curler has come through Perth at some point, even if it’s just a Greggs on the way past,” said a regular at the Dewars Centre. “The granite knows. It feels at home.”
Our curling correspondent, who has watched every end with the intensity of a man defusing a bomb, says the sweeping has been “immaculate” and the shouting “of championship standard”.
“Hurry hard” remains the most-searched phrase in Perth this week, narrowly ahead of “unheated covered space meaning” and “is it Christmas at Glendoick yet”.

Perth invented sweeping. Ask any mother in Letham.

My granny curled on the loch in 1963 and still says nobody since has had the right technique.
