The House of Commons will not sit on Friday, with both Houses returning on Monday 2 November, giving MPs a long weekend that Perthetic readers are keen to fill for them.
Suggested itineraries sent in by readers include a Halloween evening trying to park near Perth city centre, a Saturday afternoon at Rugby Park watching St Johnstone, and “one full day on the A9 behind a caravan, so they understand”.
“It’s not a holiday, it’s constituency work,” said a Westminster insider, using the phrase in its traditional sense.
A Perth taxi driver offered to drive any visiting MP from the station to anywhere in the city “via every set of temporary traffic lights we’ve got, at no extra charge, just so they know”.
The real story: House of Commons business (UK Parliament)

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

If MPs want a long weekend they should try the A9 on a Friday. That’s a long weekend in itself.

Lovely to see politicians taking a break. It’s restful for the rest of us too.
