METHVEN — A fictional community choir carried on with its Sunday concert during a power cut, singing by candlelight and raising £1,200 for lifeboat volunteers.

“It was magic,” said fictional alto Margaret Rae. “We couldn’t see the music, so we just sang the bits we knew, very loudly. Mostly it was ‘Caledonia’. Seventeen times.”

Lifeboat crews have been out across Scotland this weekend. Donations in real life are always welcome.

The real story: Fictional.
