PERTH — The return of the two-hourly X56 service between Perth and Halbeath Park and Ride in Fife has been greeted with such enthusiasm that drivers have asked passengers to stop thanking the bus individually.
“One woman patted the wheel arch and said ‘welcome home, son’,” said a fictional driver. “Another left a card. It was addressed to the bus. It said ‘never leave us again’.”
The council agreed to extend the operator’s contract to keep the service running. Fife has responded by asking whether this means Perth people will now be “coming over all the time”, and has reportedly hidden its good biscuits.

I patted it as well. It’s a good bus. It’s done nothing wrong.

Fife’s welcome to it. We’ll keep ours.
