I Indicated Correctly on Broxden Once. Nobody Believed Me.

A confession from a Perth driver who saw something beautiful and no one was there to witness it.

Broxden, where good indicating goes unrewarded.

It was a Tuesday. Around 11am. I entered Broxden from the A9 south, indicated left to the right lane (bear with me), then right into the outer lane, then left again for the M90. Perfect. Every light in the right order. A lorry driver nodded at me. I nodded back.

I told my wife. She said “that’s nice”. I told my friends at the pub. They said I’d imagined it. A man called Alec said “nobody has ever done that, not even the man who designed it.”

I’m writing this because I need the world to know. It happened. I was there. I have no dashcam, no witnesses except the lorry driver, and I don’t know his name. If you are reading this, lorry driver: thank you. You saw me.

Hamish Crabbe is a columnist and has not been on Broxden since. He doesn’t want to ruin it.

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
