PERTH — A pigeon that has taken up residence in an empty High Street shop unit has been hailed as “exactly the kind of independent retailer Perth needs” after drawing small crowds every lunchtime.
“He’s in the window every day,” said a shopper. “Very good at customer engagement. Looks you right in the eye. Doesn’t push sales.”
The pigeon, who regulars call “Mr Gregor”, sells nothing but appears to be doing a steady trade in crumbs. City-centre business leaders said they would welcome any new occupant, “feathered or otherwise”.
A landlord’s agent confirmed the unit was still available to let, “but the current tenant will need to be asked very nicely to leave, and he bites.”

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
