PERTH — A border collie from Letham has learned the Perth bus timetable by heart and now travels independently to the North Inch every morning, arriving more reliably than anyone else in the city.

“He’s never missed it,” said a driver. “Rain, wind, diversion through Emma Street. He’s there. Sitting at the stop. Judging people who are late.”

Passengers say the dog has improved behaviour on the bus considerably. “No one plays music out loud any more,” said a regular. “He gives you a look. It’s the look your granny gave you.”

The dog’s owner said she only found out when he came home with a day ticket in his collar. “I don’t even know how he paid,” she said. “I suspect the driver. Everyone suspects the driver.”
