The BANK OF SCOTLAND, Blairgowrie (on the 2026 Closure List): A Branch That Knew Your Name, Your Balance and Your Business
Survived by an app, a helpline and a cash machine with strong feelings.

BLAIRGOWRIE — The Blairgowrie branch of the Bank of Scotland, listed among this year’s UK branch closures, is preparing to leave the town that knew it as “the place you went on a Friday to argue about a cheque.”
It was a branch of high ceilings, low interest rates and the particular queue found only in rural branches, in which everyone in front of you is paying in a bag of coins from a church tombola.
It handled the finances of berry farms, B&Bs and pensioners who liked to see their money “with their own eyes, once a month, to be sure it’s still there.”
It is survived by a banking app and the instruction to “visit your nearest branch”, which in Blairgowrie will soon involve a scenic drive.
The real story: UK high street closures confirmed for 2026, including Bank of Scotland Blairgowrie (Time Out)

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.
No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
